Ok I was playing Gunz, using IE and on AIM at the same time. I use the Ctrl+Alt+Delete thing, and it went back to my desktop. Gunz always has problems while you are running it and on your desktop at the same time, and my computer froze...and it nearly wiped my computer user account. I restarted the computer once, and some weird things happened. My entire desktop got wiped, and it put my desktop picture back to one I had awhile ago. When I went to restart it again...my newest desktop picture appeared, then shut down. I can't drag any icons to my desktop, it won't accept it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Btw, I uninstalled Gunz, so that could take no effect now. Well you see, my user account is still inside the computer somewhere. Whenever I shut down the computer, my old desktop would appear in a quick flash, then it would continue shutting down. The user account's in there somewhere, I just need to know how to Access it and delete the current one that my computer uses. You see, everything is working fine. Same speed, and everything, except that it wouldn't let me have icons on my desktop and change my desktop background. That's the problem. If anyone can fix this computer for me, I'll do any 20 graphics request for you. I literally mean 20. |

No matter what windows you have you can either use the system restore or if that doesn't work open your antivirus if you can. If you can't do this neither you're gona have to do a format to your pc P.S if your antivirus shows no problem try scanning the cd just in case it is infected 8) |

I'm not going to sweep my harddrive no matter what.
Yes, Windows XP.
First of all, I have many, many programs that can remove virus/spyware programs. I can run that. Alos, how do you do system restore? |

does it shut down on it's own?? Cause there's a Virus that infects only windows xp and the pc reboots every 5 sec and then it closes To do restore go start, programms, system tools, system reboot. so simple then all you have to do is define a date before that problem showed up and you're done!! good luck

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. What do you mean? Problems like what?
Nope, I shut it down manually.
Nah. That info would be probably about 9-10 Gig depending on what files I want to save. Plus, I don't want to take a risk like that, sweeping my harddrive. Before I do a system restore, I need a question answered... What are the good effects and bad effects of system restore? Will it do anything to the computer itself? Will the calendar dates and time change at all due to System Restore? |

No. the calendar and the clock will not be affected. Just all the activities you've done since the date you'll define will be erased.that's the bad thing the good thing is that the problem will be solved automatically... :P |

Your mails and posts won't be erased. And when i said that more than one anti-virus programs could cause problems, i mean that they could probably cause crashes or errors!!! I had this problem once, until i got the tip to delete the anti-virus programs and use only one. |

Your favorites will be erased, thats one of the problems you have when you are formating your HD. But hey aren#t abke to cause chrashes... You could try to take all the adresses you bookmarked an copy it into a new .txt and save this on cd so that you don`t loose all the links! http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben...313348&x=6&y=11 This is really useful even if it comes from Microsoft ^^ It shows you how to format and partition you drive if you don't know how to do so! |
